The NetGate Application
NetGate is a digital agency in Sydney, Australia, and NetGate is also the name of the software application our team built and operates. This page describes exactly what that application is, what it does, and how it uses data.
What the application does
The NetGate application is internal software used by NetGate employees to run the marketing accounts we manage for our clients. Its functionality:
- Reporting and monitoring. It reads campaign performance, search terms and account health from the Google Ads accounts under our own manager account, and assembles the internal reports our staff review with each client.
- Campaign management. It prepares changes to those same accounts, such as budgets, keywords, negative keywords and ad assets. Every change is reviewed and approved by a NetGate staff member before it is applied.
- Conversion measurement. When a customer enquiry that came from an ad becomes a real job, the application records that outcome back to the client's own Google Ads account, so the account optimises toward genuine business results.
- Keyword research. It uses Google's keyword planning services to research search volumes when building campaigns for our clients.
Why it requests access to Google user data
The application authenticates with Google using NetGate's own company account and requests access to the Google Ads accounts that NetGate manages under its manager account (MCC). It does this so our staff can perform the functions above on behalf of our clients. It does not access the Google account of any member of the public, does not collect personal data from end users, and is never offered to anyone outside NetGate: our employees are its only users.
Data retrieved from Google APIs is used solely to manage and report on the client account it came from. It is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for any other purpose. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
